Kim Delaney, an American actress, is best known for her character the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she was awarded an Emmy Award. Also, she is known for her role in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney has a father who was an executive from the United Auto Workers who was also the mother of her children. Delaney has four older brothers. As a young girl, she wanted to become a reporter for the court. In highschool her modeling career began when she was able to model for commercials, and later after moving to New York. As a teenager her first appearance as an actress was in the 1980 soap opera All My Children. Since then, Delaney has appeared in numerous TV dramas and films. Her career as a professional has been much more lucrative than her personal life. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two divorces that failed and fought with addiction issues. In 2005, the actress lost the custody of her son.
